The program is 12 weeks long, but of course if you are traveling or get sick, etc there is wiggle room to extend it if you have to miss a training session! As trainers we have found people are more likely to stick to their sessions knowing they have an expiration date, so ideally we think of it as a 3 month jumpstart to get you used to new habits and a new routine.
You can be 6 weeks post-partum or 5 years post-partum (or more!) As long as you have had a baby and have had clearance from your doctor to exercise, you can join in :)
The only part of the program that is in-person are the Pelvic Floor PT sessions, everything else is completely virtual. However, if you do not live in the Boston area and want to join the program we do have a physical therapist who can offer virtual sessions and/or we can help you find a reputable one in your area.
If your pelvic floor is dysfunctional then exercising could actually make problems like urine incontinence, diastasis recti, pelvic organ prolapse, painful sex, back pain, bowel leakage, pelvic pain, constipation and other pelvic-floor related disorders worse. That is why it's important to make sure your pelvic floor is strong and functional before resuming an exercise program!
Pelvic Floor PT is a treatment approach that uses the principles of traditional physical therapy to provide a safe reconditioning of the pelvic floor muscles to help improve their strength and function and to alleviate any pain, weakness and/or dysfunction. A skilled pelvic floor PT will also teach proper breathing mechanics. Though some pelvic floor PT is done internally, this is ALWAYS up to the client and not required.
If you have already seen and graduated from a Pelvic Floor PT since your most recent birth you have two options- 1. You can still do 1 session to be re-assessed with our concierge Pelvic Floor PT OR 2. You can have your PT drop us a note regarding what you worked on together so our trainers can proceed with your exercise programming accordingly! Instead of the physical therapy sessions you can use them towards extra personal training, baby-feeding support, or nutrition sessions instead!
That's totally fine! Then you could use that session towards extra physical therapy, personal training, or functional nutrition sessions instead :)
Sure! Finding time for yourself after you have a baby is HARD, but also so important, and thats one of the reasons the Balanced After Baby program was created- to show mama's that its not only ok, but NECESSARY, to take care of ourselves. That's why after completing the program we want to reward you in a big way! You can choose any spa or salon of your choice (or we can recommend one!) and we will reimburse you up to $200 on whatever service(s) you choose.
